Three Shortcuts for Switching Between Open Windows

I am a big fan of the ALT-TAB switcher, this one was new to me:

Windows key + Tab – (Flip 3D) This was introduced in Windows Vista and continued in Windows 7. It cycles through a 3D stack of open windows plus the desktop. Requires an Aero theme and supporting graphics. Hold down the Windows key and tap Tab until the desired window is displayed. Then release the Windows key.

BeSeen - a Free Mobile App about Social Networking for Educators and Families
BeSeen is provided by Carnegie Mellon University and Web Wise Kids to teach youth how to be responsible in social networks by securing their private and personal information, protecting their online reputation and defending their peers. This online safety mobile application is a single-player game that simulates a social networking website. The player creates a profile and starts earning “friend” characters and interacting with them. They learn about others through their posts and help them through challenges in order to win awards and make new friends.
In BeSeen, the ultimate quest is to make friends. At first, that is a matter of getting involved in school activities, but as more friends join a social circle, they bring their problems with them. To keep friends and make more, it’s important not only to be involved but to be a good friend. Who is up for the challenge?

Russell A. Sabella, Ph.D.
From podcasts to porn, cyberbullying to cell phones, Dr. Russell Sabella helps readers understand the risks that emerge when high-tech tools, uninformed parents, and exuberant youth collide. As a result, a parent's ability to make effective decisions for how technology is used may be compromised.
GuardingKids.com empowers parents, educators, and other care takers to better understand the electronic terrain. Readers will be better able to help children safely and securely navigate a minefield of inappropriate and risky situations.

National Eating Disorders, NEDAwareness Week

National Eating Disorders, NEDAwareness Week

Hi All,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Susie Roman, Director of Programs at
the National Eating Disorders Association, and I'm excited to be
joining this group (thank you, Nancy!). Since pro-anorexia/bulimia
sites has been a big buzz in the media lately, I thought you all might
be interested in National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (happening
now!) and NEDA's new partnership with Tumblr to ban active promotion
of self-harm.

Tumblr is implementing their policy this week, during NEDAwareness
Week (Feb 26-March3), to flag and remove dangerous sites that
encourage and glorify eating disorder behaviors and images intended to
be "thinspo" (thinspiration). They will also be posting a PSA
announcement directing those searching terms related to eating
disorders and pro-ana/mia sites to the NEDA Helpline and website for
resources. This is a big development, because it is a platform with 40
million users, taking a stand and recognizing that viewing pro-ana
content can trigger or further entrench eating disorders, which are
serious mental health conditions, not lifestyle choices. We've worked
with Facebook as well, in an advisory capacity, so it is encouraging
to see some of these industry leaders setting an example in this area.
If you want to know more about this topic and the dangers of pro-ana/
mia sites, feel free to email me.

I also wanted to invite you and your members/constituents to join us
as participants in NEDAwareness Week. Anyone can register (takes 30
seconds and is free) and receive access to tons of free, online
resources such as the print-ready stats/facts sheets, Educator Packet
(activities for the classroom, discussion guides, film list, printable
bookmarks), PowerPoint Presentations, event listings, activity guides,
pre-written articles on a very broad range of topics and much more. We
have seen a very stong positive correlation between increasing
participation in NEDAwareness Week and calls to our Helpline, support
programs and website, so we know how important raising awareness and
educating all communities is. Here are the links, and once registered,
you can download the NEDAwareness Week logo key messages, etc.

NEDAwareness Week Registration:

I look forward to being a part of your discussions and learning about
all of your important work.

Cheers,
Susie Roman

Human Rights Petition: MPAA: Don’t let the bullies win! Give ‘Bully’ a PG-13 instead of an R rating! | Change.org

Human Rights Petition: MPAA: Don’t let the bullies win! Give ‘Bully’ a PG-13 instead of an R rating! | Change.org

You may have heard about the upcoming movie, "Bully," which releases on March 30. Unfortunately, the Motion Picture Association of America has rated it "R" due to language in the film, which means many students who need to see the movie won't be able to see it.

Lee Hirsch, "Bully" director, says, "I made 'Bully' for everyone to see, kids who are bullied, who bully and the vast majority who are witnesses. Those kids can make change by speaking up, becoming upstanders instead of bystanders. We have to change hearts and minds in order to stop this epidemic, which affects more than 13 million young lives a year in our country. The stark realities of bullying are that kids say terrible things to each other, and kids in junior and senior high school use profanity. It is devastating that the MPAA, in adhering to a strict limit on certain words, would prevent this film from being seen by those who need its message the most."

Katy Butler, a high school student from Ann Arbor, Mich., is taking a stand. She has launched an online petition urging the MPAA to reconsider its rating. In under 24 hours, more than 100,000 people had signed on. ASCA encourages its members to sign the petition and encourage their students and school staff to do the same.
