Cellphones have been called "the new paper and pencil" or "the new laptop," and they could be in the hands of as many as 10 million to 15 million schoolchildren in the next few years. For their instructional potential and ability to connect students to the Internet, mobile devices are quietly making their way into schools in the United States and abroad. What does your district, school, or classroom need to make this technology leap? Guests will discuss policy and implementation issues and offer practical curriculum ideas for every subject.

Google Certified Teachers developed Search Education lessons

Web search can be a very helpful tool for students and teachers alike, but we've heard from many of you that you could use more help in learning how to efficiently search and then impart that wisdom to your students.  Because of that, the Google Certified Teachers developed Search Education lessons to help you with that.  They've developed three modular lessons not specific to any discipline so you can mix and match what best fits your needs.  And all of the lessons come with presentations which will help guide your classroom discussions. You'll learn fundamentals of search (which includes judging the validity of sources), search techniques and practices (for more advanced searches), and features and functionality (to learn some neat tips and tricks).  Check out all of the lessons here:

Digital Education: Administrator in Sexting Case Wins Legal Fees

Administrator in Sexting Case Wins Legal Fees

Ting-Yi Oei, who was initially charged for possession of child pornography in a sexting case at Freedom High School in Loudoun County, Va., where he is an administrator, called to update us on his situation. The charges against him were eventually dropped and the county school board voted last month to repay legal expenses—some $167,000—that Oei racked up throughout the ordeal. The charges came after he collected inappropriate cellphone images from a student.

A teacher's nightmare?

OffiSync

A powerful addon to Microsoft Office that integrates with Google, a must see! I wonder, is this a teacher's nightmare (plagiarism)? Make sure to watch the video and let me know what you think.
